Scientific name: Rhododendron canadense

Dimensions:
  Flower: ½-¾" (1.5-2 cm) long
  Plant height: 1-3' (30-90 cm)

Blooming period: May-July

Habitat: Bogs, wet woods, rocky slopes

Description: Few pink to lavender flowers in terminal clusters that bloom before or as leaves emerge on this deciduous shrub. Flowers are divided into 3 segments, a 3-lobed upper lip and a lower lip divided into 2 narrow tube-like segments; 10 protruding stamens. Leaves are ¾-1½" (2-4 cm) long, narrowly oblong to elliptic, gray-green underneath with hairy edges. Heath family. (May 14)
