Common name: Spotted Joe-Pye Weed

Scientific name: Eupatorium maculatum

Dimensions:
    Flower: Head 3/8" (8 mm) wide;
    cluster 4-6" (10-15 cm) wide
    Plant height: 2-7' (60-210 cm)

Blooming period: July-September

Habitat: Damp meadows, thickets, moist places

Description: Flat-topped cluster of fuzzy, purplish-pink ray-less flower heads atop a deep purple or purple spotted stem. Leaves 2½-8" (6.5-20 cm) long, in whorls of 3-5, with a single main vein, narrowly elliptic or narrowly oval, coarsely toothed. Aster family. (August 1)
