Hog Peanut

Common name: Hog Peanut

Scientific name: Amphicarpaea bracteata

Dimensions:
    Flower: 1/2" (1.5 cm) long
    Plant height: Vine; 4-6' (120-180 cm)

Blooming period: August-September

Habitat: Moist woods and thickets

Description: Delicate twining vine with two types of flowers: pale purple, pale pink or lilac clusters rising from leaf axils; and smaller, inconspicuous petal-less flowers near the base of the plant. Leaves are divided into 3 leaflets, each leaflet 3/4-3" (2-7.5 cm) long, ovate, rounded at the base and pointed at the tip with a smooth margin. Pea family. (August 15)
