Common name: Hardhack (Steeple Bush)

Scientific name: Spiraea tomentosa

Dimensions:
    Flower: 1/8-1/4" (3-6 mm) wide
    Plant height: 2-4' (60-120 cm)

Blooming period: July-September

Habitat: Old fields, wet meadows, swamps

Description: Dense, steeple-shaped terminal branched clusters of pink flowers; 5 sepals and petals; numerous stamens; 5-8 pistils. Leaves 1-2" (2.5-5 cm) long, alternate, oblong to lanceolate, toothed, prominently veined, white or reddish-brown underneath with dense matted or tangled hairs. Rose family. (August 10)
