Dimensions:
  Flower: Heads 1/2-1" (1.2-2.5 cm) wide
  Plant height: 1-4' (30-120 cm)

Blooming period: August-September

Habitat: Dry woods and clearings

Description: Small, tubular pink-lavender 5-lobed flowers in dense heads usually arranged in spike-like clusters although occasionally solitary; up to 20 but as many as 35 flowers per head; heads noticeably stalked; bracts blunt, overlapping with narrow dark margins. Leaves 4-12" (10-30 cm) long, lower leaves longer, narrowly oval to lance-shaped (lanceolate); upper leaves smaller and linear. Plant stem smooth or downy. Aster family. (September 5)
