Scientific name: Rosa rugosa

Dimensions:
    Flower: 2-3" (5-7.5 cm) wide
    Plant height: 4-6' (1.2-1.8 m)

Blooming period: June-September

Habitat: Roadsides, seashores, sand dunes

Description: Large, rose-lavender (occasionally white) flowers with prickly stems. Flowers have 5 rounded petals, 5 reflexed sepals, and a yellow center with numerous pistils and stamens. Leaflets are 1-2" (2.5-5 cm) long, deeply veined, dark green and shiny, appearing wrinkled. Rose family. (June 20)
